Lap Battle Returns for 2025!

I'm excited to announce that Lap Battle is back for the 2025 season — a low-risk, time attack lapping competition designed to be accessible for new drivers while remaining competitive and rewarding for experienced ones.

Event Objective:

Lap Battle provides a safe and structured environment for drivers of all skill levels to experience a lapping time attack. It’s ideal for those bringing their street cars to the track for the first time, while still offering a solid challenge for returning competitors.

Practice Sessions:

As in last year, each event will begin with a speed-limited open practice session. This gives all drivers a chance to get familiar with the track under low-pressure conditions.

• Practice will be run in 5-lap sessions, helping participants get used to entering and exiting the circuit efficiently.

• Up to 5 cars will be allowed on track at a time.

• Drivers are welcome to complete as many practice sessions as they’d like during the scheduled time

• Passing is not permitted unless the leading driver clearly slows down and provides a point-by.

  
  

Timed Sessions:

The main change for 2025: timed sessions will now include 2 cars on track at a time (rather than just one), allowing for more track time and a smoother schedule.

• Drivers will be paired by pace, with a 30-second gap between each car.

• Pairings and the session order will be emailed prior to the event. These are determined based on previous event results and driver experience.

• Each driver will complete three 5-lap sessions, consisting of:

  • 1 out lap (warm-up)

  • 3 timed hot laps

  • 1 in lap (cool-down)

    
    

This format provides enough opportunity to post a competitive time while minimizing mechanical strain on the car and driver.

Track Layout:

We’ll be using the short track layout, which is both easier on vehicles and safer for new drivers. This configuration continues to strike a good balance between accessibility and challenge.

Lap Records & Recognition:

For 2025, the top 3 lap times in each class are now tracked.

• Breaking the existing lap record in your class earns you the “DMS Lap Record Destroyer” decal.

• If you set a new Top 3 fastest time in your class & hold it for the season you’ll receive bonus points toward the DMS Class Championship.

  
  

All drivers best laps along with current records can viewed on the Results page by selecting the Lap Battle Leaderboard button.

Thursdays evenings have consistently received strong feedback, so we’re continuing with weekday events this season.
