Winter Events Are Coming For January 2025!

Yep that's right! There will be 2 winter events in early 2025. January 25th & February 8th to be exact.

These will take place at Rad Torque Raceway in the large gravel parking lot. In the winter this lot freezes up solid with a mixed surface of frozen gravel, ice & snow. Without any light poles, curbs or big ruts this lot makes for a low risk spot to hold events.

AMA uses this lot for driver’s training!

The first 2 events will be kept small to ensure they run smoothly & to have time to iron out any new venue/event issues that may arise. If the events are well liked, I'll make them bigger for next winter.

The Course

Depending on snow depth, I’ll get a mini race track plowed through the lot or one that is marked out by pylons or a combination of both. You can expect it to be an open & flowing layout for maximum fun with lots of room to get sideways! A course map will be posted up & emailed out before the event. Below is just an example of what you can expect.

The Classes

We are keeping it simple with just AWD, FWD & RWD. If there is limited registration in either the FWD or RWD class, they will be combined into a 2WD class.

Tire Rules

Once again simple. Tires need to be winter rated street legal tires. If you're using studded tires you have to drive to the event on them! This is to reduce the advantage and deter anyone from using freshly studded tires, or specialty studs. Having to drive to the event will dull out those studs & will kill most of the advantage they have.

Competition

Each driver will get 2 heats of 4 runs with their best run from each combined to get a total. This is simply to account for track condition changes as the course will either get faster or slower between heats. Some course adjustments might be made between heats if anything starts to get rutted or bumpy.

And as per usual, if you hit a cone a 2 second penalty is added to your time. There will be minimal cones used to ensure cone chasing tasks for marshals is kept to a minimum. A 3 run group system is planned to be used so drivers can spend less time marshaling & allow for time to grab a warm drink between your groups heats (or BS with your competition)

2 low speed practice runs are given at the start of the first heat to allow drivers to get a feel for the course.

Awards

Top 3 in each class get a Trophy supplied by the always awesome group at RA Motorsports .I’m also bringing in the “Poop Emoji trophy” for the slowest driver!

That's it for now! Event registration will go public soon. An early access link was emailed out yesterday to everyone that attended a 2024 event. You get first pick at it. The event is already filling up faster than expected!

Now let's go have some drifty winter time cone smashing car racing fun in 2025!
